Bratty Hipster Hick Rediscovers U.S.
What in the name of Sam Heck is this blog?
Starting in May 2014 this will be a travel blog detailing the ins and outs of trekking across the Continental United States of America in a crappy old Chevy Nova. Starting in San Francisco, I will be hitting up major cities, haunted inns, tiny towns, large balls of twine, and national parks in an effort to rediscover what people like so much about the U.S.
Unfortunately I have no sponsors, so the tales of my travels will be told from the perspective of an impoverished college graduate. Readers, you will learn how to get so much bang for your buck that you will live like a millionaire on twenty dollars. Unfortunately, I have an obsession with snow globes, so there may be a few articles where you learn how to sleep when you haven't had dinner but do have a nifty snow globe.
Why in the name of Sam Heck are you writing this blog anyway?
Somehow you have stumbled upon the travel blog of a (lower) middle class (mostly) white female American (also Scot and Spaniard). Being the privileged elitist hipster that I am, I spent a large majority of my childhood and adolescence hating the United States and everything for which it stood. Ever since I was six months old my parents have been dragging my sister and I hither and yon across this country (and also Nepal, Thailand, Spain, and anywhere my father could get a job).
Having moved from south Texas to Portland, Oregon and back again, by car, made me realise something: the U.S. is actually pretty cool if you know where to look. I struck me then that I needed to share this knowledge with not only my fellow Americans but, the entire world. So logically I thought of writing a travel blog.
I will graduate Liberty University in May of 2014 and begin writing my travel articles then. I'll be starting in San Francisco, California and traveling East.
Who is this crazy author woman?
Salutations, I am Paloma Martin. Having spent a lot of time in Portland, Oregon as well as Houston, Texas, I am a rather crazy hipster hick. When I'm not writing feminist rants or judging you for listening to mainstream bands; I can be found reading classic literature while riding horses, and eating vegan hamburgers. I love traveling so much I may never settle down and I fancy myself a photographer.
